Can’t Wait Wednesday – The Weaver’s Daughter by Sarah Ladd

March 28, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 5 Comments

cant wait wednesday

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you’re continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well! Find out more here.

Psst, want to know a secret? My blogging and review calendar for April is absolutely jam packed. Okay, so that probably isn’t too much of a secret. But either way, there are a lot of wonderful books to look forward to next month. Including Sarah Ladd’s new release, The Weaver’s Daughter.

Can’t Wait Wednesday: The Accidental Guardian by Mary Connealy

March 21, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 4 Comments

cant wait wednesday

Another Wednesday has rolled around. After you read more about the book I’m looking forward to reading (or another book I’m looking forward to reading), be sure and visit our host site and see what other books people are anticipating.

Most of my reading is based off authors I enjoy or suggestions from other readers/bloggers I trust. But some covers just stand out. Mary Connealy’s cover for the first in her new series is both beautiful and adorable. I mean, come on, how can you not smile when looking at this one?

The Accidental Guardian Mary Connealy

And if that didn’t convince you…

About the Book

When Trace Riley finds the smoldering ruins of a small wagon train, he recognizes the hand behind the attack as the same group who left him as sole survivor years ago. Living off the wilderness since then, he’d finally carved out a home and started a herd–while serving as a self-appointed guardian of the trail, driving off dangerous men. He’d
hoped those days were over, but the latest attack shows he was wrong.

Deborah Harkness saved her younger sister and two toddlers during the attack, and now finds herself at the mercy of her rescuer. Trace offers the only shelter for miles around, and agrees to take them in until she can safely continue. His simple bachelor existence never anticipated kids and women in the picture and their arrival is unsettling–yet enticing.

Working to survive the winter and finally bring justice to the trail, Trace and Deborah find themselves drawn together–yet every day approaches the moment she’ll leave forever.

What do you think? Is it something you’d like to read?

It’s going to be a busy week here on the blog. Lots of reviews and a few giveaways (including your chance to win Matt Redman’s new CD, Glory Song) so be sure and stop back by often. Don’t want to miss anything? Subscribe to blog updates by entering your email address in the box on the left sidebar and hitting the SUBSCRIBE button!

And not on to my Tackle Your TBR Challenge results. Bragging rights are firmly in place. If I learned one thing during this Read-a-thon, it’s that having a challenge placed in front of me keeps me on point with my reading. In fact, I not only read the seven books I’d hoped to read during this two weeks, I read a few more!

Tackle Your TBR

Most of these reviews are scheduled for future dates on my blog (starting tomorrow) so I’m including the links to my Goodreads reviews if you want to check them out sooner

Tackle Your TBR Update

It’s Sunday everyone! One more week until the TBR read-a-thon ends. I thought I’d give everyone an update. Here’s the news: I’m ahead of schedule!

There were seven books total I wanted to read over the next two-week challenge and I started book six yesterday (hoping to finish today). Oh, and I also finished an extra one not on my list. So, yes, there have been a couple late nights this past week!

If you’re interested in joining us, there’s still time until Sept 23. You don’t have to have a blog, just somewhere to record your books, even if it’s just in the comments. Visit the readathon here for more information. Thanks to our challenge host, Tressa over at Wishful Endings.

Here’s my official update:

DAY OF THE CHALLENGE/DATE: Day 6, September 17, 2017

Currently Reading: A Priceless Find by Kate James

Total Books Read: 7

Finished Books: Waiting for Butterflies by Karen Sargent; Happily Ever Afters by Rachel Magee; Almond Street Mission by June Foster, Blind Spot by Dani Pettrey, Too Far Down by Mary Connealy; and The Engagement Plot by Krista Phillips.

Looking forward to knocking a few more off the long list this week!

Happy reading!

Tackle Your TBR Readathon – Sept 11 – 24, 2017

September 10, 2017 by Suzie Waltner 2 Comments

I don’t know about you, but my TBR pile doesn’t seem to shrink at all. Nope, it just keeps growing so the Tackle Your TBR Readathon, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, provides not only motivation but giveaways as well. Plus, if I’m successful, I’ll have some bragging rights!

Tackle Your TBR

How much reading can I get done in two weeks’ time? Well, I may be a little optimistic with this but I’m going to try and get through the following books during that time frame (thankfully I requested a couple extra days off work toward the end of the readathon so that will me out as well.
