I don’t read a whole lot of non-fiction, but devotionals are the exception. I enjoy getting a different perspective than mine and adding a little more to my time in God’s Word. Granted, the ones I usually like best are those that add only a few minutes to my quiet time. Devotions for the Hungry Heart: Chasing Jesus Six Days from Sunday is the perfect complement to my morning devotions.
In My Opinion
Are you a Sunday Christian? Do you attend church and forget about Him the rest of the week? Do you look at others and wish you had that fire and zest for your walk with God?
If I’m honest with myself, my answer to those questions is sometimes yes. I walk through seasons where I am simply going through the motions, wondering if it’s worth it. Wondering why I’m not like those around me.
In Devotions for the Hungry Heart: Chasing Jesus Six Days from Sunday, Shellie Rushing Tomlinson provides twenty weeks of short, conversational devotions. Reading these is like sitting down with a friend for a short chat—only you get to do it six days a week.
This clothbound, bright book is something to reach for when you feel yourself struggling with your walk with God. Each entry is short enough at a page and a half to fit into even the busiest morning. And you get the added bonus of a handful of yummy-looking recipes.

About the Book
This simple little book of story-based devotions will change your world, one day at a time.
“Whether you have a healthy craving for more Jesus, or the barely discernible taste for a relationship with Him that seems beyond your reach, the glorious truth is that God put that hunger in your heart in the first place, and He is more willing to fan that flame than you or I could ever be.”
