Jennifer Rodewald

Morning by Morning by Jennifer Rodewald – Review

About the Book

“You were built for hard things.”

Two years after losing the love of his life to cancer, Connor Murphy is slowly emerging from the darkness of grief, but he wrestles with fears about how he and his twelve-year-old son Reid will manage to navigate Reid’s teenage years on their own. Connor’s single-minded prayer has become, please, no more changes, but when single mom Jade Beck arrives to take on the job Sadie Murphy had done before her death, it becomes clear God has stamped his prayer request denied.

Jade Beck’s prayers were answered when she received the offer of a job as Lakeshore Lodge’s marketing and customer relations manager. Or so she thought. After a messy divorce, she and her two children need a safe place to land and find the peace their lives have lacked, but once she meets her abrupt, brooding supervisor, Mr. Connor Murphy, her fresh start suddenly looks a bit…stale. She’s already endured fifteen years living with a condescending man, and she won’t be a doormat anymore.

As the challenges of single parenting continually push them together, Jade and Connor’s relationship gradually transforms from cold and awkward to respectful and mutually supportive…and eventually to something deeper and more tender. But navigating these changes forces them to deal with the hurts and disappointments of their pasts and confront the fears that hold them captive.

Surrendering their hopes and fears to God has never felt so daunting. Can they learn to see the goodness of God, even in their broken paths, and trust that morning by morning, God’s tender mercies are ever new?

Morning by Morning, book 8 in the Murphy Brothers Stories, is a complex, emotional story of hope after heartache, of deeply moving, tender romance after devastating loss, and God’s faithful love, even in life’s hardest place.

cant wait wednesday

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you’re continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well! Find out more here

I can’t wait for the final book in the Murphy Brothers series by Jennifer Rodewald.

Finding Evergreen by Jennifer Rodewald – Review

March 24, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 1 Comment

Friends, this book wrung me out. So much so, I’m going to warn you about my rambling review. There was so much to digest and ruminate on. Finding Evergreen is definitely one read that left me with a book hangover.

In My Opinion

While I’m a fan of romance reads (and Hallmark movies and chick flicks), I’m also well aware that life continues past the first kiss, past the proposal, past the wedding.

In a market saturated with Happily Ever Afters and even Happy for Nows, writing about the pain and heartache of real life takes courage on the author’s part. Life is messy, filled with disappointments, disagreements, and pain. Especially during the first year of marriage where two people are struggling to learn to merge their lives. Add in a faster child with a chip on her shoulder and messy becomes chaotic.

Can’t Wait Wednesday: Finding Evergreen by Jennifer Rodewald

March 7, 2018 by Suzie Waltner Leave a Comment

cant wait wednesday

Can’t wait Wednesday is hosted by Wishful Endings. Stop by to see what books others are most looking forward to.

I love a good romance. But sometimes, I enjoy moving past what I’ll call the honeymoon stage of romance books. Yes, there’s all the conflict and drama on the way to the I love you or engagement or altar. The sparks, the hesitancy, and more. But there’s just as much (if not more) on the flip side of saying I do.

And that’s exactly the nitty gritty Jennifer Rodewald is delving into in her late March release: Finding Evergreen

Finding Evergreen Jennifer Rodewald

He thought he’d found the thrill of his life; she, the romance she’d hadn’t dared to hope for. Falling in love had been easy. Being married? Totally different story.

Married within a year of meeting, Ethan and Brandi add a foster daughter to their newly established family. Their story is enchanting—inspiring. Except when the fairytale fails. The stresses of unmet expectations and wounds from their pasts knife into their marriage, severing what they believed would be forever.

Hope for a broken marriage. Healing for their wounded spirits. It would take both to find evergreen. Are they brave enough to try?
