A Sparkle of Silver by Liz Johnson – Review

October 24, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 1 Comment

I love a new series. New characters, now settings, new events, and lots of enjoyment! Liz Johnson’s A Sparkle of Silver meets all of that criteria!

About the Book

A Sparkle of SilverNinety years ago, Millie Sullivan’s great-grandmother was a guest at oil tycoon Howard Dawkins’ palatial estate on the shore of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Now, Millie plays a 1920s-era guest during tours of the same manor. But when her grandmother suggests that there is a lost diary containing the location of a hidden treasure on the estate, along with the true identity of Millie’s great-grandfather, Millie sets out to find the truth of her heritage–and the fortune that might be hers. When security guard Ben Thornton discovers her snooping in the estate’s private library, he threatens to have her fired. But her story seems almost too ludicrous to be fiction, and her offer to split the treasure is too tempting to pass up . . .

Get ready for a romantic escapade through dark halls and dusty corners that will have you holding your breath and sighing with delight as two charming characters get caught up in the adventure of uncovering the past and finding their way to an unexpected future.

Welcome to A Season to Dance Blog Tour

About the Book
Title:  A Season to Dance
Author: Patricia Beal
Publisher:  Bling! Romance
Release Date:  May 9, 2017
Genre: Inspirational Contemporary Fiction
Ballerina Ana Brassfield has her path to the stage of the Met in New York and her future with fiancé Peter Engberg all figured out—until her first love, renowned German dancer Claus Gert, shows up in Georgia to dance with her and win her back. Claus kisses her after a rehearsal, a kiss Peter witnesses from the darkened audience. Convinced a kiss between Claus and Ana is more than a one-time mistake, Peter breaks off his engagement with Ana. Rejected by Peter, and knowing Claus is dancing at the Met soon, Ana decides to repave her path to her dream. With her 2002 Thunderbird and Baryshnikov, an old dog crippled by arthritis, she moves to Germany to be with Claus. But the ghost of his late wife, Ana’s own memories of Peter, and the pressure of earning a spot in a large ballet company prove to be a high price for a shot at success.

In My Opinion (Review)

With the grace and fluidity associated with dancers, Patricia Beal takes readers behind the scenes and onto the stage in A Season to Dance, allows us to step into a ballerina’s pointe shoes.

Heartbreak caused Ana Brassfield to shift her life and career goals to something more manageable, something obtainable. When a man from her past returns intent on winning her back, her world is once again turned upside down.

Ana’s actions and decisions aren’t always the wisest, but she is determined to make the most of them. She is also searching for something but the idea of not giving one hundred percent of herself to obtain something as obscure as grace goes against everything she knows.

This poignant story is the journey Ana takes to finding her worth. Not in dance or in romantic relationships but in the One who wants to give her more than she can imagine. Ana faces heartache, disappointments, and tragedy throughout this book, but in the end, the God who longs for her, holds her close.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I’m #teampeter!

Blue Ridge Sunrise by Denise Hunter (Review)

November 3, 2017 by Suzie Waltner Leave a Comment

Blue Ridge Sunrise Denise HunterFormer free spirit Zoe Collins swore she’d never again set foot in Copper Creek or speak to the man who broke her heart. But return she must when her beloved Granny dies, leaving the family legacy to Zoe—a peach orchard nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

When Zoe returns home with her daughter and boyfriend Kyle, she finds that she’s the only person in town who doesn’t expect her to give up the life she’s established far away from Copper Creek. Everyone believes she was born to run the orchard, but how can she make it her home after so many years?

Cruz Huntley never quite got over his first love, Zoe Collins, the little sister of his best friend Brady. Not when she cheated on him during their “break,” not when she took off to parts unknown with good-for-nothing Kyle Jenkins, and not even now—five years later.

As life-changing decisions and a history with Cruz hang over Zoe’s head, tensions rise between her and Kyle. Even as she comes to terms with the shifting relationships in her life, Zoe still isn’t sure if she can remain in Copper Creek with her new responsibilities . . . and her first love.
