What Matters Most by Courtney Walsh – Review

April 13, 2022 by Suzie Waltner Leave a Comment

About the Book

Emma Woodson is hoping the cobblestone streets of Nantucket and the charm of her late husband’s family cottage will be the fresh start she and her young son, CJ, need. Securing a dream job at an art gallery is one more step along the path to a new life . . . and away from a piece of her history she hopes will never be revealed. Falling in love with the kind and handsome guy she hires to clean out the rental apartment above the garage wasn’t part of the plan.

Jameson Shaw came to Nantucket for one reason: deliver his letter to Emma and never return. But when he sees an opportunity to help her, he takes a chance, desperate to atone for his past. He never planned to keep his connection to her husband a secret or to fall in love with her. After all, he knows that their new relationship might not survive the discovery of who he really is.

Hometown Girl
Courtney Walsh

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Courtney Walsh returns with a hopeful and emotional new book about seizing second chances, finding yourself, and forging your own path.

Beth Whitaker isn’t supposed to be a small-town girl. She’s always dreamed of leaving Willow Grove, Illinois, for the big city, but she feels trapped, struggling to make up for a mistake that’s haunted her for years. Just when Beth is finally ready to break free, her sister impulsively buys a beloved but run-down farm on the outskirts of town, and she begs Beth to help with the restoration. Reluctantly, Beth agrees to help—and puts her own dreams on hold once again.

Drew Barlow hasn’t been back to Fairwind Farm since he was a boy, and he’s spent all these years trying to outrun the pain of a past he thought he buried long ago. When he learns that the owner has passed away, his heart knows it’s finally time to do the right thing. Returning to Willow Grove, Drew revisits the old farm, where he attempts to piece together his memories and the puzzle of the crime he witnessed so long ago.

Both on a journey to find peace, Beth and Drew are surprised when they begin to experience a restoration of their own. But when long-buried secrets break through the soil and the truth unfurls, will it threaten their budding relationship—and the very future of the farm?

Just Look Up by Courtney Walsh (Reveiw with a Giveaway)

July 3, 2017 by Suzie Waltner 31 Comments

This was one of those books that once I started, I could not put down. In fact, I started reading it one evening after work and finished in the wee hours of the next day.

In part because I could empathize in a way with Lane Kelley. While I’m not estranged from my family, I do live 2500 miles away and often feel out of the loop when I get together with them. And none of them betrayed me the way a member of Lane’s family did hers. There’s so much pain and hurt to Lane’s story, I couldn’t help but feel for her.

Paper Hearts by Courtney Walsh

February 2, 2015 by Suzie Waltner Leave a Comment

The title of this book alone should intrigue you this time of year. And if the title doesn’t grab you, the beautiful book cover will. As we turn our calendars to February, we celebrate love and romance on the fourteenth and heart health all month long. Courtney Walsh’s novel is the perfect Valentine’s read. Check out the adorable book trailer here.

paper hearts quote

Abigail Pressman has big plans for her future—plans that don’t include falling in love. She is content to expand her bookstore. But her dream is just out of reach. When she gets a new landlord, a doctor who wants to start a practice in the space Abigail hoped to obtain, her dreams and plans are even further away. Bring in the Valentine Volunteers—a group of women who stamp the town’s name and romantic postmark on Valentines and anniversary cards, wedding invitations, and anything else people care to send to the romantic town of Loves Park. This group of women also take it upon themselves to match the unmatchable in the town, and Abigail is their newest project (unbeknownst to her). They rope her into helping and she comes across a string of paper hearts with messages printed on them. She is captivated by these hearts and wants to get her hands on more. Who is the anonymous couple who started the tradition? Someone she knows? Why do the latest batch of the hearts seem ominous—like something horrible happened to the couple? This couple was her hope that true love—love through the good times and the bad times—exists.

Through a quirky cast of characters—the Valentine Volunteers offer plenty of laughs throughout the book—and humor, Paper Hearts is the perfect rom-com. Despite her best efforts to hate her new landlord, Abigail is attracted to him. And through her efforts to save her store, she comes to realize that maybe what she’s always done with her life is not what God has in store for her life. There’s a little element of You’ve Got Mail in this one and lots of the fun stuff we love from romantic comedies—comic relief, misunderstandings between our hero and heroine, realizations about our main characters, and an epic romance. This is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. Definitely one to add to your list.
