Midnight’s Budding Morrow by Carolyn Miller – Review & Giveaway

June 3, 2022 by Suzie Waltner 2 Comments

Welcome to the Read with Audra blog tour for Midnight’s Budding Morrow by Carolyn Miller.

About the Book

Can real love grow between a wallflower and an unrepentant rogue?

Sarah Drayton is eager to spend time with her best friend at her crumbling Northumberland castle estate. Matrimony is the last thing on her mind and the last thing she expects to be faced with on a holiday. Yet she finds herself being inveigled into a marriage of convenience with her friend’s rakish brother.

When James Langley returns to his family’s estate, he can’t be bothered to pay attention to his responsibilities as the heir. War is raging and he wants only distraction, not serious tethers. But his roguish ways have backed him into a corner, and he has little choice but to obey his father’s stunning decree: marry before returning to war, or else. Suddenly he finds himself wedded to a clever and capable woman he does not love.

Sarah craves love and a place to belong, neither of which James offered before returning to the battlefront. Now everyone around her thinks she married above her station, and they have no intention of rewarding her for such impertinence. It isn’t until her husband returns from war seemingly changed that she begins to hope they may find real happiness. But can she trust that this rake has truly reformed?

When tragedy strikes, this pair must learn to trust God and his plans. Will they be destroyed . . . or will they discover that even in the darkest depths of night, the morning still holds hope?

The Breakup Project by Carolyn Miller – Review

About the Book

New Year. New Resolution. New Romance?
What happens when the best-laid plans break a friendship?

As the twin sister of hockey’s hottest forward, romance-loving Bree Karlsson is used to being ignored, leading to a New Year’s resolution to not date any athlete in her attempt to find Mr. Right. But what happens when the man who might prove to be her personal Mr. Darcy is her brother’s hockey-playing best friend?

Mike Vaughan might be happy playing in Boston, but he’d be even happier if Bree could one day see him as more than a good friend. He agrees to help Bree with a special project in the hope she’ll finally see him as something more. But when a misunderstanding ends in a Valentine’s Day disaster, Bree realizes that her breakup project may have broken her friendship with Mike in two. Can she ever redeem her mistake?

This friends-to-more romance has plenty of heart, humor, and swoon-worthy kisses in this first book of the Original Six, a sweet, slightly sporty Christian contemporary romance series.

I’m a fan of romance stories, and I’m also a hockey fan, so when Carolyn Miller announces she was working on a hockey romance series, I was thrilled!! Book one is out and the other five will follow in short succession.

Here’s the first line that starts it all in The Breakup Project.

Miss Serena’s Secret by Carolyn Miller – Review

August 2, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 1 Comment

While I may be a little late to discover Carolyn Miller (my first read was Winning Miss Winthrop), with the release of Miss Serena’s Secret, Miller has firmly planted herself at the top of my favorite Regency authors.

Miss Serena's Secret

In My Opinion…

Reading one of Carolyn Miller’s books is an immersive experience. With rich and vivid descriptions, I feel as though I am sitting down to dinner or attending a ball right along with the characters.

And Miller adds an entirely new layer with a character who is an artist. Seeing the world through Serena’s eyes reminded me of the beauty, variety, and color in God’s creation that I so often don’t appreciate enough.

First Line Friday – Miss Serena’s Secret

First Line Friday

Welcome to fabulous Friday! It’s been a busy, busy week for me at the office, so I am welcoming the weekend with wide open arms. Anyone have fun plans? I’m dog sitting/house sitting for a friend. I love doing this because I’m only a couple miles away from my place but I also feel like I’m away from the distraction of home. My weekend plans are walking the dog and lots of reading.
