Welcome to Social Media Saturday!
Words on a page draw me into stories and worlds created by other people’s imaginations. I love to follow where stories take me.
At the same time, I enjoy getting to know the people behind those words that move me a little better. Social media makes it easier than every to get a glimpse at the personalities behind the words.
I’m introducing a new segment on this blog called Social Media Saturday. Each week, I’ll highlight an author who has a strong social media presence. Whether on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, or Blogs, we’ll dive into what I love about what these authors are doing with their online presence.
To kick off this segment, I’m highlighting two authors who have just released new books into the world, both of which I loved for very different reasons. For the past few years, these two have introduced readers to a fun competition they’ve developed between them. Sometimes they invite friends along for the challenge.
Meet the contenders of the always entertaining, sometimes hilarious, Pinterest Wars! Every spring, Becky Wade and Katie Ganshert compete for the title (and tiara) by attempting to recreate projects they find on Pinterest. What’s even better? They let the readers vote and one person wins a prize from the authors!

But there’s so much more to these two than this silly and fun competition. Let’s me break it down for you.
Becky Wade
BIO: During her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins. These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending. She’s been a fan of all things romantic ever since.
Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas. It was during her years abroad that Becky’s passion for reading turned into a passion for writing. She published three historical romances for the general market, put her career on hold for many years to care for her kids, and eventually returned to writing sheerly for the love of it. She’s delighted to be penning warm, wry, and heartwarming contemporary romances for the Christian market. She’s the Carol Award, INSPY Award, and Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award winning author of My Stubborn Heart, the Porter Family series, and the Bradford Sisters Romance series.
These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, sweating at the gym, carting her kids around town, playing tennis, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.

Katie Ganshert
Bio: Katie Ganshert is the author of seven novels and several works of short fiction. She has won both the Christy and Carol Awards for her writing and was awarded the RT Reviews Reviewers Choice for her novel, The Art of Losing Yourself. Katie makes her home in eastern Iowa with her family.
What I Love About Katie: Whether it’s on her blog or Facebook, Katie is real. When she and Becky are carrying on about the tiara or when Katie is playing with the Facebooks masks while to doing a FB live video, I’m usually smiling or laughing along with her. Yet when she shares about her adoption journey or her children, I feel her heart (check out the about section of her website for a glimpse of this). Like Becky, Katie encourages new and aspiring writers in her Writers Corner.
A total aside here, but to this day, Katie’s A Broken Kind of Beautiful is one of my favorite book titles ever.
Katie’s newest book, Life After, left me with a slight book hangover. How do you get over a tragedy that affects so many lives? Check out my review.

What authors do you enjoy following on social media?
Both of these ladies are all things I have read and I followed them both on Facebook. Their Pinterest wars are fun!
Another author I like to follow on Facebook is Candace Calvert. I don’t think I’ve read any of her books, just one novella written by her, but she is a fun one to follow on Facebook
Oh, Candace writes fantastic medical books. Her nursing experience really shines through!! I don’t think I follow her online, though. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for letting me know.
