When I don’t have my nose buried in a book, I like background noise. Most of the time, that’s provided by music. Whether sitting at my desk at work, driving around marking errands off my list, or immersed in chores around the house, music provides an ample soundtrack.

My favorite go-to music is praise and worship (yes, even while cleaning the house). There’s just something about it that automatically lifts me up, reminds me of where—and on Whom—my focus should rest no matter what my hands are doing.

Do you know who does praise and worship well? Passion. From the movement to the conferences to the music, the ultimate desire is intimacy with God.

In My Opinion

Recorded live at the Passion 2018 Conference in Atlanta, GA, Whole Heart captures the essence of Passion’s desire to grow people in their relationship and encounters with God. Through a balanced combination of upbeat (aka praise) and slower (aka worship) songs, this album is a must-have for your collection. With a mix of new (or at least they were new to me) songs and ones I’m familiar with and featuring Passion artists like Kristian Stanfill, Melodie Malone, Sean Curran, Matt Redman, and Crowder, the variety on this album is outstanding while cohesive.

You’re sure to find a song (or two or three) that speaks to your heart whatever season you are in life, whatever challenges you are facing.

Two songs stood out to me. From the first listen, “Reckless Love” resonated with me. There is so much depth to this song. I couldn’t earn it/I don’t deserve it/still You give yourself away/oh the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God.

Through several more listens, the lyrics to “Heaven” featuring Sean Curran nudged my soul into conviction. If faith can wake the dead man/and hope can split the sea/then help me to remember the kingdom of Heaven is living in me. It’s so easy to let life overwhelm me but heaven is here.

I could ramble on and on about this album but then I’d be stealing your opportunity to experience how Jesus wants you to, so I’ll leave you with just that taste of it and the following verse:
