First Line Friday – Wait for Me

November 16, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 8 Comments

First Line Friday Autumn

Happy Friday, everyone! I’m a little in denial that we are only a week away from Thanksgiving! But a long weekend means extra reading days because I refuse to deal with people and traffic during Black Friday! Do you make an event out of shopping the day after Thanksgiving?

This week I’m sharing the first line from the final book in the final book in Susan May Warren’s Montana Rescue series.  Is anyone else READY for a resolution to Jess and Pete’s tumultuous relationship? And if you’re one of those weird people who waits to read an entire series until all the books are out, now is the time to meet the PEAK rescue team!

Wait For Me

About the Book

Pete Brooks can’t believe he’s waited an entire year for Jess Tagg to return to Montana, only to have her break his heart by getting engaged to her ex-fiancé. Worse, a series of mistakes on the job have cost lives, and Pete isn’t sure he wants to continue to work in Search and Rescue. Maybe if he can just get over Jess, he can figure out how to move forward.

EMT Jess Tagg has returned to Montana to finally give her heart to Pete, but it seems he’s no longer interested. When a terrible fight between them sparks an impulsive decision, she finds herself crashed on the side of a highway along with Esme Shaw. And just when she thinks things couldn’t get any worse, she and Esme are taken captive and into the untamed Montana wilderness—with murderous intent.

Now Pete and the other PEAK Rescue Team members are in a race against time, the elements, and the actions of a vengeful man. Pete will have to use everything he’s learned to find Jess and Esme—and pray that his past mistakes don’t cost him the life of the woman he can’t stop loving.

Now it’s your turn to grab the book nearest you and share the first line in the comments. Then head over to Hoarding Books to check out the others!

Susie’s book is excellent! Happy Friday! My first line is from “This Courageous Journey” by Misty M. Beller:

“Today, we left the train – forever, if my aching limbs could decide the matter.”

    Happy Friday.

Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from Gone Too Soon my Melody Carlson. So far, I am enjoying the book. I’m just starting chapter 4 in Gone Too Soon, so I will share it’s first line here.

“I don’t think anyone observed me sneak out the backdoor.”

Hope you have an excellent weekend!

My first line is from My Heart Belongs in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania by Murray Pura:
It is about the Underground Railroad.
    Saturday night, early December 1860
    Adams County, Pennsylvania
    Five miles north of Gettysburg

It was so black she could not see her hand even if she held it so close it touched her face.

I think the guy on the cover is so handsome 🙂

I am sharing the first sentence from the book Susie (Ray Rhodes, Jr), on my blog.
I am on chapter six so I’ll share its first line here.

Before their first wedding anniversary, Susie and Charles faced a challenge that threatened to undo them.

    Happy Friday!

Today, my first lines come from A Vineyard Christmas by Jean Stone…

The turnout was better than Annie had expected. It was, after all, a bitter, see-your-breath kind of morning, with a brisk December wind whirling around Vineyard Sound.

Have an awesome weekend and stay warm!

Happy Friday! On my blog this week I shared the first line of Searching for You by Jody Hedlund but it’s also my current read so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (8) here: ” Sophie stretched and yawned, relishing the scent of bacon and coffee and something sweet.” I’m good for the bacon but I have to admit I don’t like coffee OR the smell of it (yes, I know I’m the odd-ball lol). Hope you have a great weekend!

On my blog I’m featuring A Tale of Two Hearts: Book 2 in Once Upon a Time Dickens Christmas by Michelle Griep. I’m currently reading A Holiday by Gaslight by Mimi Matthews. Since I’m on Chapter Two, I will share the first line from this chapter. “You told him what?” Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
