Can you believe we’ve reached the final Friday of July? How are you holding up with the heat this summer? We got a nice cooldown the past couple days which puts me in the mood for fall. Alas, we still have July to get through!
This week, I’m sharing the first line from Caleb Breakey’s debut thriller. And let me just say, if you are the type to jump at unexpected noises or avoid scary or creepy books or movies because they keep you up at night, you may want to skip this one. But, if you enjoy a good psychological thriller with twists and turns and a fast-paced plot, this one is for you.
About the Book
Welcome to the string, a game of impossible decisions and deadly consequences. Let’s go over the ground rules.
Rule #1: Participation is mandatory.
Rule #2: If anyone refuses to play, all threats will come to pass.
Game on.
Get ready for a deadly social experiment as a sociopath known as The Conductor delivers disturbing threats and twisted moral dilemmas to unsuspecting students and staff.
As a powerful instinct for self-preservation sweeps through the campus, one man has a grave decision to make. Will university cop Markus Haas play the game to protect those he loves? Or will he break the string and incite massive chaos–and even death?
In the great suspense tradition of Ted Dekker and Steven James, Caleb Breakey’s explosive debut novel will have you turning pages into the night.
Now it’s your turn! Grab the book nearest you and drop the first line in the comments. Then head over to Hoarding Books and discover what others are sharing this week!
I have The String on my TBR shelf. Looks good!
I shared from The Bridge Between by Lindsey Brackett over on my blog. Here I’ll share from The Killing Tide by Dani Pettrey — Fire ripped through Finn’s right shoulder, ricocheting down his arm.
Have a great weekend!
And The Bridge Between is on my TBR shelf :). The Killing Tide is excellent (but I didn’t expect any less from Dani Pettrey!)

Four Dreams of You by Sondra Kraak
This book looks SO GOOD. Happy Friday!
Happy Friday! I haven’t started this yet, but my first line (well – 2 lines) is from “Margin of Error” by Christy Barritt:
“Hunger and anger battled inside him like two storm fronts colliding. A violent friction clashed in his very soul.”
I am so far behind on Christy’s books!! She cranks them out so fast.
Happy Friday!

“Elsie closed her eyes for a moment and breathed in the steamy air, imagining she stood beside Grand Prismatic Spring instead of the massive laundry boiler in the back of the Mammoth Hot Springs Lodge.”
Hope you have an excellent weekend! ❤

I will be adding it to my TBR list. Happy reading!
Love and Other Mistakes was a fun read! Enjoy
It is hard to believe that it’s the last Friday of July! I am looking forward to fall, too. This book looks good but maybe a little too stressful for me to read.
