First Line Friday – Silent Days, Holy Night

December 14, 2018 by Suzie Waltner 3 Comments

First Line FridayHappy Friday! Anyone else feel like you’re being pulled in too many directions right now? Part of my busyness is that I’m trying to get ready for my parents’ visit. I’m house/pet sitting for a week starting tomorrow so that cuts out how much I can get done at my place (and I’d rather not wait until the day before Mom & Dad arrive to try to get everything done because that just won’t happen). But, it will totally be worth the work (even though it is majorly cutting into my reading time).

Since we’re nearing Christmas, I thought I’d share the first line from a Christmas book I recently read. I really enjoyed this one. You can read my review here.

Now it’s your turn to grab the book nearest you and share the first line in the comments. Then head over to Hoarding Books to check out the others!

    Happy Friday!

My first lines come from Lowcountry Bookshop by Susan M Boyer…….

The dead are prone to secrecy. Eighteen years ago, my best friend Colleen took the outbound train to the next world. She’s seen behind the curtain, knows the answers to a great many questions. But since she’s been back in her role as guardian spirit, she can’t share this information with me. It’s against the rules, that’s what she tells me.

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!

I know it’s Saturday already, but this has been my first chance to comment. Yesterday, my husband and I had the privilege of attending our daughter’s commencement for her master’s degree and we hosted her graduation party at our house afterward. Now, for FLF, on my blog I featured a Love Inspired novel by Winnie Griggs, Once Upon a Texas Christmas. Since this is my current read, I will share the first line in Chapter 18: “Abigail escorted Seth and Jamie into the schoolroom as soon as she’d seen the last of the children leave.” Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

I’m a little late going around this weekend but I’ve had a couple busy days leading up to my extended family Christmas with my in-laws today. The book I shared on my blog this week is Between Two Shores by Jocelyn Green releasing in Feb 2019 but I haven’t been able to start my next read yet so I don’t have an extra line to share. I hope you have a great weekend and are able to get some quality reading time in!
