Happy Friday everyone. It may be September but it’s been in the 90s here in Tennessee. I’m so ready for cooler weather. I’m pet sitting once again (and will be every weekend in September. Who knew this month would be so popular for weekend getaways). My getaways will be within the pages of the books I’m reading. How about you? Any small (or big) trips planned?
This week, my first line is from One Final Breath by Lynn H. Blackburn. For two books we’ve been clamoring for Gabe’s story, and now it’s here.
About the Book
When investigator Gabriel Chavez had his cover blown by an aggressive reporter, the silver lining was being able to rejoin the dive team. The downside? Dive team captain Anissa Bell–a woman who both fascinates and frustrates him.
Anissa grew up as a missionary kid on the Micronesian island of Yap and always planned to return after college. But she remained stateside, determined to solve the case that haunts her–the murder of her best friend and the disappearance of a three-year-old child.
When Anissa’s fractured past collides with Gabe’s investigation into the tragic shooting death of a teenage boy in Lake Porter, they’ll have to put their complicated history with each other aside in order to uncover the identity of a killer. What they’ll discover is that revenge has no statute of limitations.
Award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn closes out her nail-biting Dive Team Investigations series with a story that will have you wondering how long you can hold your breath.

This has my attention! Happy Friday!
This is one author I have not read yet but I’ve heard so much about her books. I really do need to try this author.
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. It’s a pleasure to meet you and I am now following your blog. My First Line Friday was from The Spice King but my First Line Friday here will be from the book I am reading, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek.
The librarian and her mule spotted it at the same time.
Hope you enjoy your weekend 🙂
Happy Friday! My first line is from “Hold Me” by Alexa Verde:
“Aileen McKenzie might not make it.”
Happy Friday! Today on my blog I shared the first line from Shades of Light by Sharon Garlough Brown but I’m currently reading My Dearest Dietrich by Amanda Barratt so I’ll share the first line from chapter 7 here: “Like a rent in fabric formerly whole, the wake of her vater’s absence yawned wide and gaping.” Hope you have a great weekend!
My first line is from The Hope of Azure Springs by Rachel Fordham and this is it: I’m sorry to come by unannounced, but this business with the girl’s been put off long enough,” Sheriff Caleb Reynolds said while standing in the doorway of the Howell’s home. “I’d have come by sooner, but Doc Jones said she’d need time.”
Happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing the first line from The Enlightenment of Bees by Rachel Linden: “The day my world crumbles I am dreaming about pie crust.”

Happy Friday! I’m sharing from Belinda Blake and the Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing by Heather Day Gilbert on my blog today, so here is another line from the first page:
“I cozied up on my blue couch, setting my warm mug of Arabica coffee on the low table in front of me.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
Lynn Blackburn is an author to warch. I read all three Dive team books. Excellent!
My first line is from The Spice King by Elizabeth Camden
May 1900 Washington D.C.
Annabelle Larkin hadn’t meant to offend the world’s leading spice tycoon with her bold request, yet it seemed she had.
Cannot wait to read this book!
My first line comes from A Reluctant Belle by Beth White — Tree limbs slapped Joelle’s face as she ran through the woods behind the bathhouse.
Hope you have a great weekend!
