We’re not even halfway into 2020 and I’ve already read a couple of fantastic books. How about you? This week I’m sharing the first line of Exit Stage Right by Jennifer Willcock. It’s on my tbr plan for next week. Do you like books with athletes in them? Coco is a ballerina in this one.
She wants to dance, and she’s willing to sacrifice everything, everyone, to get it.
Coco Bradley is a talented ballet dancer, and when an opportunity arises for her to audition for the prestigious Spencer School of the Performing Arts, she’s not about to let anyone stop her— including her parents, her friends, and any of the prima donnas of the art school. A pastor’s kid, Coco has grown up serving God and people, but gaining entry to Spencer means leaving behind all the expectations that come with growing up in the pastorate, as well as the dead-end town of Wyattsville.
Coco lives by the creed “Ballet First,” but she’s about to find out in a painful way that there’s more to life than dancing.
Opportunities, fame, and love all come calling as Coco chases her dream. But in going after what she wants, will she lose the things that matter most?”
Now it’s your turn! Grab the book nearest you and drop the first line in the comments. Then head over to Hoarding Books and discover what others are sharing this week!
Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I am sharing the first few lines from The Blizzard Bride by Susie Dietze: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2020/01/10/first-line-fridays-118/. I’m still working my way through this fun novel, so I will share another line or two from The Blizzard Bride.
“‘Forgive, forget, forgive, forget.’ The words formed a rhythmic refrain in Abby’s head, in time to the beat played by the group of fiddles and banjos Saturday evening at Mayor Carpenter’s birthday party.”
I hope you have an excellent weekend filled with relaxing reading time. ❤️
This one looks good!
Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing the first line from Coral by Sara Ella: “Her soul was bleeding.”

My first line is from The Gray Chamber by Grace Hitchcock:
New York City, Fall 1887
Edyth Foster’s limbs burned as she pedaled down Fifth Avenue, her white skirts whipping in the wind while she wove around pedestrians and carriages, ignoring their shouts of protest.
It was the fourth watch of the night and Leah’s husband had barely cooled in his tomb. The pain came on fast, clawing at her insides like stripping bark from a tree. She pulled her legs to her chest, desperate to save the precious fragile life within. This is from The Silk Merchant of Sychar by Cindy Williams Have a Great weekend. God Bless you.
I love finding new books! Thanks for making my TBR list even longer my friend 🙂
Happy Friday! I’m sharing from Volition by Chautona Havig on my blog today. Here is the first line from Chapter 18:
“For a week, I read my Bible, prayed like I’d never prayed before, and tried to ignore the skeleton that had moved into my closet.”
I think this book looks good and I’d like to read it to see if an appropriate gift for my 14 year old niece and a friend’s daughter. I’m anxious to read what the reviews are.
I’ll be reviewing it on Jan 20 so come back and see my thoughts to help decide if it’s a good gift for your friend’s daughter.
