Happy Friday, friends and welcome to December! The perfect time for a first line from a Christmas read (fair warning: you may get a few of these this month).
Now it’s your turn. Grab the book nearest you and leave the first line in the comments then head on over to Hoarding Books Blog and read the other first lines this week.
First Line:
Barrett Thorn shouted to his younger brother between the clashes of thunder that ripped through the winter darkness.
About the book:
Someone is dead set on stopping Shelby Arroyo from doing her job: assessing mineral rights in a mine in gold country. But after rancher Barrett Thorn rescues her from an attack, the handsome widowed cowboy seems to feel responsible for her. That is, until he discovers she’s from the family that he’ll never forgive for his wife’s death. As the threats against Shelby escalate, cowboy honor and an unexpected attraction keep Barrett by her side, even at his own risk. And since Shelby won’t back down, Barrett must protect the brave, loyal woman he has no business falling for…a woman someone wants to kill by Christmas.

That sounds like a great book.
I reviewed the anthology, A Grand Tour, a couple weeks ago, but it has such a great first line, it had to get included. This is from the first book, A Lord’s Chance

The smell of deck tar warming under the Mediterranean sun made Miss Isabelle Strathmore smile beneath the brim of her second-best bonnet.
This looks like a fun read!
I’m sharing about The Austen Escape on my blog today, but the closest book to me is Christmas at Carton by Tamera Alexander, so I’ll use that here.

Happy Friday!
Today, over on my blog, I am showcasing Cara Putman’s novel, Imperfect Justice. I am so excited to review this book. I have heard so many good things. On my site, I used the first lines from the prologue, so here I will share the first sentence from chapter 1.
“Emelie Wesley glanced at her watch and frowned.”
Ominous beginning…
My first line comes from a book on my TBR list by Lynda Wilcox. Strictly Murder is the first book in the Verity Long Mystery series.

Yikes, it all sounds more than a bit dangerous, but a good first line!
