Have you been following along the Daughters of the Mayflower series through the Lytton family tree? The Patriot Bride takes us to the doorstep and into the foyer of the Revolutionary War.
In My Opinion…
The Onset of the Revolutionary War, two spies, a man who will not take no for an answer, and supporting roles from George Washington and Benjamin Franklin are just a few of the highlight in The Patriot Bride, the latest release in the Daughters of the Mayflower series.
Kimberley Woodhouse returns with her second book in the series, and I liked revisiting a little of the story from where it all started plus the ties to Plymouth. But even more so, the intrigue, suspense, history, and romance of Faith and Matthew’s story may just be my favorite yet.
Faith Jackson is intelligent, courageous, and headstrong who has surrounded herself with faithful friends and staff (Clayton and Marie were a great addition). She’s also experienced an abundance of loss in her life.
Matthew Weber is in a dangerous situation, embedded deep in enemy territory. But his clandestine meetings with the Patriot’s messenger—the beautiful Faith Jackson—are a highlight of his days.
As the danger grows and war dawns, can Matthew and Faith reach for a brighter future or will the present challenges present them from examining their admiration and attraction further?
Woodhouse puts readers in the center of a pivotal time in US history, bringing it to life with fascinating characters and tidbits of history woven within this fictional story.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series with strong women who fight for their freedom and beliefs and men who appreciate and encourage those strengths.
