I would say that over the past year I’ve been really bad about keeping up a regular running routine. Running is not my favorite activity but I have found that as far as exercise, it’s the activity that I get the best results from.
In order to try and motivate myself to get back into a regular running routine, I have signed up to do a half marathon in September. Now, I just need to get up an hour early and get out there and run.
Sounds simple doesn’t it? But, for some reason, it is one of the hardest things for me to do. I set my alarm to get up at 5:30 (which actually gives me plenty of time to run, get home, shower and head to work). But when 5:30 comes around, I hit that snooze button and go back to sleep. Maybe I need to move my alarm across the room (or across the house) so that I will actually have to get out of bed.
I would run in the evenings after work but it’s Nashville which means summer is full of heat and humidity and it is really uncomfortable to run. But, when I was training for my first marathon, my friends and I would meet after the sun went down and run for an hour so that may be an option too.
So, I’m making it public knowledge by posting this, I WILL get back into a regular running schedule and figure out what best works into my schedule 🙂
Girl, it does NOT sound simple to me! It is not something i would be able to do, and I am the worst at getting up early. I have my alarm set 30 minutes before my kiddos at set to arrive – in that time I hit my snooze 3 times, roll out of bed: deo, teeth, clothes, done. I save showers for afternoon or evening so I get more time in the morning – if I didn’t, I would never shower cause I just can’t choose over shower or sleep! Good luck in your running endeavors!
Yep, getting up is so hard but so worth it once our two feet hit the floor!
