In My Opinion
What is something you would tell your younger self if you could? One of the (many) words of advice I would have for myself is to develop healthy, life-long habits early. And one of those habits is a daily devotional time with God.
Roar Like a Lion by Levi Lusko is a book that can start or continue a child or tween on the journey of developing the habit of spending time daily with God. Each of the 90 devotionals is written in a way that draws the reader in like the author is sitting right there with them.
I appreciated the mix of scripture verses provided in the book along with the encouragement to look other verses up, driving the reader to God’s word. Lusko challenges young readers to be brave and take a stand when they see wrong done in their worlds. He acknowledges challenges and never preaches down to the reader but instead kneels down to their level, recognizes the issue, and encourages courage.
But that’s not all. There is also a fun and educational sidebar with facts about animals and history. I even learned a few things reading through this devotional. Whether you’re looking for something to read as a family or wanting to find something for your young reader to engage and encourage, look no further.
