For those of you not in the Nashville, TN area, we’ve had quite a weekend. It started raining Saturday morning and by noon on Saturday many areas around middle Tennessee were starting to flood. The above picture was taken Sunday afternoon in my subdivision. I wasn’t going anywhere last night. Thankfully, this morning, it was passable.
Downtown Nashville is continuing to flood as the Cumberland river has reached a crest of over 50 feet. Established businesses on 1st and 2nd Avenue in downtown are flooding. Over 600 people had to be rescued via water rescue this weekend and if anyone saw it on CNN this weekend, a mobile classroom went floating down one of the interstates before it broke into a bunch of pieces.
So now what? There are a lot of hurting people in Tennessee right now. They need prayers, they need homes, they need things to live day to day. So many people have lost their homes, historical areas of Tennessee have been destroyed and the city is in chaos.
This past Saturday my church was hosting something called, “One Great Day” where we were helping families in the Spring Hill community. It called called early due to the weather and quite a bit of our projects were not able to be completed. Now we are extending “One Great Day” to “One Great Week.”
Here’s a great post from a friend with a lot of video footage from around Nashville and Franklin, TN http://www.keepingupklapper.blogspot.com/
Thanks for linking my blog. I also gave you a shout out on my blog today. Check it out!
Glad you are okay! Praying for Nashville and everywhere else in TN devastated by flooding… and wishing I could do more than that.
