Lauren Barclay is a fantastic nurse and an even better sister and daughter. She puts her life on hold to return to Houston and keep an eye on her sister while her parents are out of town. Her job puts her in the vicinity of someone who caused pain in her family. Someone she wants to forget.
Elijah Landry is a PA in the critical care unit. He hasn’t forgotten Lauren but he is a single father and is trying to fight his own father to protect his disabled brother’s life. Lauren seems content with just avoiding him, but he wants to make peace with her. He hopes for something meaningful with her.
Life Support is the third book in the Grace Medical series written by Candace Calvert. I had not read any of this author’s books before but was drawn into the lives of everyone in this story—even the supporting cast of characters. They were written well and became real as I read. This book works fine as a standalone read but fans may disagree and suggest you read the former books. I understand the author will take a secondary character from her previous book and the next book will be about them. So readers might learn more about Lauren if they read Rescue Team first.
I was impressed with all of the medical descriptions and terms the author used. I’m not in the medical field but everything was believable. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.
