In Too Deep by Lynn H. Blackburn – Review

November 7, 2018 by Suzie Waltner Leave a Comment

For anyone who read Beneath the Surface earlier this year, that sneak peek at In Too Deep definitely left you ready for it’s release! Good news for us all!! The wait is over.

About the Book

In Too DeepWhen the dive team is called in to recover a body from a submerged car, they aren’t prepared to find an encrypted laptop–or an unsettling connection between investigator Adam Campbell and the dead accountant.

Adam turns to his friend Dr. Sabrina Fleming–a professor at the local university with unparalleled computer security and forensics skills–to recover the files from the laptop. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier the investigation becomes. When evidence uncovers a human trafficking ring and implicates members of Adam’s own family, he and Sabrina will have to risk everything to solve the case.

The truth could set hundreds free–but someone is willing to do whatever it takes to silence anyone who threatens to reveal their secrets. Award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn invites readers back to Carrington, North Carolina, where everything is not as it seems and sinister elements lurk behind the idyllic façade

In My Opinion…

While the entire team works together to solve what initially could be labeled a suicide, the focus is on Adam, the white collar crimes investigator with a family everyone in Carrington knows and Sabrina, an intelligent professor who helps the team with all things online.

Sabrina is adorable naïve when it comes to picking up nuances with body language and, sometimes, verbal hints. While she’s a genius, her social interaction make her likable. Adam’s got some issues with his family but when it push comes to shove, they love each other.

“Even in prayer, she couldn’t find the words to express her anguish. So she didn’t try. She sat with it, with God, and let him carry it for her.”

Lynn H. Blackburn brings these characters to life within the pages. From their interactions with each other—the banter is great—to their professional positions, each person in this group has a unique personality. And then there is the added suspense—and oh, boy, is there a lot of it in this new release with plenty of twists and turns (a couple resulting in a few trips to Leigh’s emergency department).

I loved catching up with Leigh and Ryan and getting to know Sabrina and Adam better. Next up, Gabe (and I’m hoping Anissa as I feel like things have been brewing between them for two books).I have a feeling Blackburn is saving the best for last.
