I admit it, I’m a fan of Chick Lit. Bittersweet Surrender by Diann Hunt fits the definition of Chick Lit. If you can overlook some of the inconsistencies in the story line, then the book is just a fun read for a day when you want something light to get through.
Carly Westfield loves her chocolate spa. It is her dream. The spa, however, has some financial difficulties. Carly’s best friend, Scott, has come in to help her with her books. The financial issues at the spa is not the only problem in Carly’s life. She has a brother who is always asking for her to bail him out of trouble with his gambling debts, her step-mother has moved in and the guy she likes is moving back to town so she needs to lose 25 pounds fast! And on top of all of that, her ex-husband also left her when she was in the middle of breast cancer treatments.
From the beginning of the book, you determine who you want Carly to be with and there is no surprise there but getting to that point is full of ups and downs for the characters in Bittersweet Surrender. It’s a light, enjoyable read if you are not looking for anything with deep spiritual meaning.
