Years ago, a Dear John letter and then an IED explosion overseas rocked Davis Donnelly’s world and left him unclear about his marital status. He’d signed divorce papers, but broken mentally and physically, he’d never bothered to find out if his marriage actually ended. Now that he’s about to start a new position as an outreach minister, it’s time to settle things once and for all. At the moment he tracks down his wife—or former wife?—she takes a tumble while chasing a little boy. Her son. And that’s when life flips upside down.
Joy Jennings Donnelly made her share of mistakes. But one thing she never considered a mistake was her child, and she’ll do anything to protect him. Even keep his paternity a secret.
When she’s suddenly injured with not a soul to help her or her son, Joy is forced to rely on the man who has the most reasons to hate her.

GUEST POST
You write southern fiction and live in Mississippi. What are some of your favorite Southernisms?
There are so many!! I’ve used a ton or quirky ones in my novel, but I’ll limit myself to my most commonly said colloquialisms.
Y’all (used constantly)
I’m fixing to… make supper, go to the grocery, whatever. We say fixing to.
How’s your momma and them?
You want a coke? We have Coke, Dr. Pepper, or Mountain Dew. (Coke is generic.)
It’s hot up in here.
Your wallet’s over yonder somewhere.
I reckon that’ll work.
I am full as a tick.
Why are you just piddling when you should be doing your homework? (Piddling means dawdling. Also called lollygagging.)
Look at her wagging around that cat like it’s her baby. (Wagging means carrying.)
Your ponytail’s all cattywampus. (Cattywampus means crooked)
Can you carry me up to the mall? (Carry means take, like in a car.)
Yes, ma’am or sir is always a polite way to answer.
Quit being ugly. (This is bad behavior, not appearance.)
Hush your mouth!
Oh my stars!
Do you have a favorite saying from the area where you live? For more Southernisms, be sure and grab a copy of For the Love of Joy.
