First Line Fridays: The Printed Letter Bookshop

May 10, 2019 by Suzie Waltner 8 Comments

Happy Friday! I’ve been covering for a different department at work this week and I am exhausted. But at least it made the week fly by and the weekend is ahead!

I’m sharing the first line from Katherine Reay’s new book releasing this coming Tuesday! Her books never disappoint!

About the Book

Love, friendship, and family find a home at the Printed Letter Bookshop

One of Madeline Cullen’s happiest childhood memories is of working with her Aunt Maddie in the quaint and cozy Printed Letter Bookshop. But by the time Madeline inherits the shop nearly twenty years later, family troubles and her own bitter losses have hardened Madeline’s heart toward her once-treasured aunt—and the now struggling bookshop left in her care.

While Madeline intends to sell the shop as quickly as possible, the Printed Letter’s two employees have other ideas. Reeling from a recent divorce, Janet finds sanctuary within the books and within the decadent window displays she creates. Claire, though quieter than the acerbic Janet, feels equally drawn to the daily rhythms of the shop and its loyal clientele, finding a renewed purpose within its walls. When Madeline’s professional life takes an unexpected turn, and when a handsome gardener upends all her preconceived notions, she questions her plans and her heart. She begins to envision a new path for herself and for her aunt’s beloved shop—provided the women’s best combined efforts are not too little, too late.

The Printed Letter Bookshop is a captivating story of good books, a testament to the beauty of new beginnings, and a sweet reminder of the power of friendship.

Fabulous book! I loved it! Here is the first line from Lori Benton’s upcoming release, The King’s Mercy. “Alex McKinnon roused to the press wood beneath his cheek and an ominous churning in his gut.”

Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from Sherrinda Ketchersid’s debut novel “Lord of Her Heart”. Here I’ll share the first line from chapter 11 of the same book.
“Tension filled the air as servants jostled each other in a frantic pace to prepare meals for those at the tournament.”

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Today I shared the first line from Wooing Cadie McCaffrey by Bethany Turner but it’s also the book I’m about to dig into so I don’t have an extra line at the moment to share. Have a great weekend!

That book looks so good! Today I’m sharing the first line from The Brave Art of Motherhood by Rachel Marie Martin:

“Over the past five years, I’ve lived what I’ve jokingly called a public private life.”

The quote I’m sharing on my blog today is from the novella collection An Amish Reunion. This is the first line from page 81 of my current read, Who I Am With You by Robin Lee Hatcher:

    “Ignorance, Ridley discovered, isn’t bliss.”

    Have a great weekend!
