If you’ve been waiting to read Susan Sleeman’s Cold Harbor series, now is the time to start. This team of former law enforcement and military operatives is one you want to know. Cold Pursuit is the second to last in the series with the final releasing in January 2019.
About the Book
She’s on the run…
When Whitney Rochester’s brother-in-law kills her sister, Whitney fears for the life of her niece and nephew. She can’t leave them in her murderous brother-in-law’s care so she goes on the run with the children to be sure they’re out of his reach. Or so she thinks until a killer shows up—weapon in hand—at the ski resort where she works and targets her.
But he’s in pursuit.
Former Recon Marine Alex Hamilton is working an undercover investigation at the resort when a crazed man wielding a gun takes out a guy in close proximity to Whitney. Despite not having the support of the Blackwell Tactical team, other than their forensic expert, Samantha Willis, Alex isn’t about to let the shooter harm Whitney or anyone else. When a blinding snowstorm triggers avalanches in the area, it’s too dangerous for the police to reach the secluded resort to stop the killer. Alex and Sam must protect everyone at the resort while they feverishly work to figure out if Whitney or the victim were the intended target. As Alex and Whitney grow close and the killer strikes again, Alex has to find and take down this madman, even if it means risking his own life.

In My Opinion
For five books, readers have gotten to know the jokester of the team, now get ready to see a different side of the man.
In Cold Pursuit, Alex Hamilton meets someone who he doesn’t want to joke around with, someone he wants to be real with. Both Alex and Whitney have lost someone important in their life (Alex years ago and Whitney recently) and both of them are learning to cope with their losses.
Add in an avalanche that traps them at a ski lodge with a killer on the loose, a sweet little girl, and a young boy who is also dealing with losing his mother, a couple of potential suspects, and the story heats up.
While the suspense and investigation are as top-notch as in all Susan Sleeman’s books, it’s the draw Alex has to this family that makes this book shine, especially where Isaiah is concerned.
Next up is the newest team member and I’m looking forward to Sam’s story soon!
