Did you know that God’s name is not mentioned a single time in the four chapters of the book of Ruth? And while his name isn’t mentioned, His presence is all over this little book of the Bible. In A Love Most Precious, Anita Higman walks readers through this beautiful story, verse by verse, over 90 devotions.

Each devotional consists of a verse or two from Ruth followed by a short (less than two-page) devotion that reflects both the flaws and the strengths of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz as well as the grace of God and His greater plan for the life of each of the people in this story. Higman’s writing style is inviting and kind, and I found myself wanting to just sit with her and see the story through new eyes.

I’ve always loved this short book tucked into the Bible, but after reading through this devotional book, I love it even more.
