This book includes nine short romances by different authors, including Giny Aiken, Kristin Billerbeck, Lynn A. Coleman, Peggy Darty, Rebecca Germany, Bev Huston, Yvonne Lehman, Gail Sattler, and Pamela Kaye Tracy. I’ve actually read a couple of these in another collection and could tell some of the others were older because of things like one character not having email or someone else carrying a pager. But boy meets girl and they fall in love stories are pretty timeless.
Several of these stories were love at first sight stories. Only a couple were old acquaintances reuniting stories. Three stories are centered around a group in a Classical Strings Quartet (and I felt cheated that I didn’t get the fourth story in this collection). Two other stories are connected by a meddling grandmother (these are the two I’ve read in another collection of four). My favorites were “The Garden Plot” and “Test of Time.” Admittedly, I gravitate toward preferring the stories where the people have a little bit of a past together and not the ones where they meet and fall in love within a week. Either way, these are short, cute stories that will warm your heart. An endearing read, but not one that is likely to stick with you like some of the other books I’ve read this year.
