ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Patti Stockdale loves hope, history, and a good happily ever after. She can’t remember numbers, so she married a statistician. Thanks to him, she’s lived all sorts of places and worked all sorts of jobs. While employed by an NFL team, she once answered the phone by the wrong team name. She doesn’t work there anymore. For 11 years, she directed the programming at a nonprofit senior center and hosted an annual talent show, rocking a Dolly Parton wig, Annie Oakley boots, and a sweet—although snug—Batman costume. She no longer works there either. These days, Patti writes books and occasionally educational assessments and magazine articles.

In Three Little Things, the main characters share three secrets about themselves in each letter. I asked Patti Stockdale to tell us three secrets or little known facts about herself and/or the book. Enjoy!

Secret 1

Even though I love reading historical fiction, I never intended to dive into that genre. But my mom and aunts uncovered a tin box bursting with their parents’ letters. Inspiration struck.

Secret 2

From start to finish, it took approximately twenty years to complete and sell the book. That’s not the best scenario. But I drafted Three Little Things for a creative writing class, graduated, and accepted a job at a busy nonprofit. I unboxed my manuscript a few years ago to deepen my research and rewrite the book twice.

Secret 3

I have two fewer ribs than most everyone else in the world. No, not by choice. It’s due to a health condition.
