Some sparks last forever.
But once burned…
World traveler Dr. Scott Willingham is known for being calm and levelheaded—except where Volta Morgan is concerned. In the ten years since they parted, Scott still can’t forget her. Now he’s come to Alaska to find Volta and finally let her go, only to find their attraction is stronger than ever. Can Scott leave her behind one last time…or has he truly found a place to call home?

In My Opinion
When I was taking my final college courses, my parents moved from Idaho to a small bush community 350 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska. The only way in and out was via small plan. The town had a total of seven miles of road that mostly circled the airport. Groceries were bought during visits to Anchorage and packaged up with luggage and no one in Aniak drove a car (it was snowmobiles in the winter and 4-wheelers in the summer). And Beth Carpenter’s Sweet Home Alaska brings that kind of Alaska living to life for others who haven’t experienced it.
Carpenter takes readers to these places, sharing the majesty and beauty of Alaska while highlighting a few of the difficulties involved with living in these remote areas, specifically prenatal care. Oh, but the author doesn’t stop there. There’s a second chance romance you can’t help but root for, a sweet little horse-loving girl, and a bit of family drama.
In fact, there was so much to love about this book, I can’t pinpoint what I enjoyed the most. You’ll just have to grab the book and decide for yourself which is the best part of Sweet Home Alaska.

About the Author
Once upon a time …
when Beth Carpenter was a little girl, she read everything she could get her hands on, and entertained herself on the school bus by making up stories in her head. Not a lot has changed. She’s still consuming books like M&Ms, and spends her days creating happily-ever-afters for her imaginary friends.
She lives in Alaska and Arizona with her husband and an aggressively affectionate fifty-pound lap dog. She loves to hear from readers.

Thank you for the lovely review. It feels good to get a thumbs-up from someone who has been there. And many thanks for featuring Sweet Home Alaska on your blog today.
I got to visit a couple times but did get to try Akita’s. Definitely an acquired taste!
We have friends who moved to Alaska quite a few years back. While I think it might be an interesting place to visit I can’t quite imagine living there!
I agree. It was fun to visit my parents and they only lived there for 3 years before moving back to Washington state
Love the excerpt. Look forward to reading this book. Love the cover.
I thought the forget-me-not on the cover was appropriate for this story too 🙂
