In My Opinion

For readers who have been following Catherine Lanigan’s Shores of Indian Lake series, there are plenty of familiar faces (names?) within the pages of Rescued by the Firefighter. And for those who have missed the previous books, this may just be the best time to jump into them because Beatrice and Rand are brand new characters who (at least to my knowledge. But full disclosure: I have read most but not every book in the series) haven’t been introduced before.

Beatrice runs a camp for disable and discarded children. Her big heart connects with each and everyone of them. So, when a fire erupts in the woods near her beloved home and one of the children is in danger, she rushes in, no second thoughts. Good thing Rand Nelson, firefighter extraordinaire is on the scene. And the flames of the fire aren’t the only thing that sizzle throughout the pages.

Despite the obvious attraction and admiration these two have for each other, Beatrice fights her growing feelings for Rand. No way is she going to love someone else with a dangerous job who will leave her heartbroken. But even surrounded by children, Beatrice is lonely.

Eli and Chris captured my heart. These two boys who have had a rough go of it and are trying to find comfort and love were the highlight of this book for me. And their connection with both Beatrice and Rand both pinched and warmed my heart.
