One case haunts him. One chance to fix the past. One mistake could cost him everything.
Ex-Minneapolis Police Detective Rembrandt Stone walked away from a career he loved—just the price of being sure he can come home to the wife and daughter he cherishes. But he can’t shake the deep regret over a case left behind.
When his mentor, the former Chief of Homicide dies and leaves Rembrandt with a box of cold cases and a mysterious watch, he finds himself thrust into a world he recognizes—a world from twenty years ago—the same world he’s woken from in a cold sweat a hundred times. But is it a dream, or some kind of twisted reality?
If he solves the case that plagues him, and justice is finally served, will it destroy the life he loves?
Strap in for a mind-bending, time travel thrill ride in Book One of this riveting new series, The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone.

IN MY OPINION
What do you get when you take a veteran author (Susan May Warren) known for romance, adventure, and action, another veteran author known for speculative (James Rubart), a new author (David Warren), and then add time travel? You get The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone, and the first book in the series set the bar high.
The first pages of Cast the First Stone drew me in but when we got to the twists and turns, I couldn’t put the book down. Rembrandt Stone has a pretty good life in 2021, but there are regrets—many of them delivered right into his hands. And when he’s given the opportunity to remove one of said regrets, he’s determined not to squander his second chance.
It was interesting seeing Rembrandt go back twenty-plus years in time as it included reminders of how far technology has come over that span—in daily life and in criminal investigating. I have a feeling we’ve just scratched the surface of this character.
Yes, there’s a cliffhanger, but as a fan of Susan May Warren’s books, it didn’t come as a surprise to me (plus the fact there are six books in the series is a huge hint). The good news is that you don’t have to wait long for book two. I, for one, anxiously anticipate what comes next for Rembrandt, Eve, and the rest of these characters.

Sounds like a good read. I like the cover.
I think it’s important for there to be a relatively short wait between books if there’s a cliffhanger!
