The most dangerous journeys…
Jeremy Pratt is a spy for the Crown, and one of the best. He has been in more dangerous situations than he can admit, and has always come out unscathed. But escorting his colleague’s cousin home to her family, even in disguise, just might be beyond his skills, and the temptation beyond his ability to withstand.
…May be ones of the heart…
Helen Dalton is convinced there is more to this man escorting her than meets the eye, and something familiar about him, as well. There is only one man in the world who looks at her so intensely, banters with her so easily, and makes her blush so furiously. And when he manages a daring and heroic rescue, she wonders if she ever knew him at all.
About the Author
Rebecca Connolly writes romances, both period and contemporary, because she absolutely loves a good love story. She has been creating stories since childhood, and there are home videos to prove it! She started writing them down in elementary school and has never looked back. She currently lives in the Midwest, spends every spare moment away from her day job absorbed in her writing, and is a hot cocoa addict.

Review
This was actually the first book in Rebecca Connolly’s The London League series I’ve read and even though it is the fourth book in the series, I did not feel at all as though I were missing out on something.
Jeremy Pratt is one person while in society and quite another when he’s alone. As a spy, his life and livelihood depend on him playing the perfect part. When he’s asked to escort Helen Dalton across England to her brother’s home, his acting skills fail him because somehow, Helen sees past his facades to the heart of him.
By Hook or by Rook is filled with intrigue, romance, and some action. And while Helen and Jeremy get their resolution, there’s enough left dangling for the reader to clamor for the next book. Lucky for me, I have a backlog in this series to tide me over!
Content warning: While this book is classified as a clean read, there are several instances of mild cursing (once or twice per chapter). According to some other reviewers, this is not the case with Connolly’s other books.
