In My Opinion

I’m going to start with the characters who steal every scene they appear in—the goats! Whether creating havoc, frolicking, or enamored, Lauren’s goats left me smiling every single time they showed up on the page. The jeep scene is hilarious!

Beth Carpenter gives readers an education in goat farming in Alaskan Dreams, and it is an absolute joy to read all about it. Especially when Carpenter adds in a natural romance and some elderly friends who take it upon themselves to help Lauren overcome many obstacles. If that’s not enough to entice you, there’s also a bit of a treasure hunt and the gorgeous Alaskan scenery.

This book has a lot of heart. From the friendships Lauren forms to her tenacity to succeed to the softly blooming romance, Alaskan Dreams is one for the keeper shelf. I didn’t want this book to end.

when Beth Carpenter was a little girl, she read everything she could get her hands on, and entertained herself on the school bus by making up stories in her head. Not a lot has changed. She’s still consuming books like M&Ms, and spends her days creating happily-ever-afters for her imaginary friends.
