GUEST POST
Since I live in Texas, I knew I would someday do a series set here, so when my editor requested I do just that, it was a no-brainer. The challenging part, however, was deciding where to set the series. Texas is a BIG state with everything from beaches to the Hill Country to the desert southwest. It’s virtually impossible to see it all if you only have a few days to take in the Lone Star State. So, to help narrow things down, here are a few of my favorite must-see places in Texas.
- The Fort Worth Stockyards – When people think of Texas, they think of cowboys and the old west and you can experience a bit of both at the stockyards in Ft. Worth. You can take in the daily cattle drive and even see a rodeo. Not to mention dine on some yummy Texas barbecue.
- The Alamo – Another place to get a taste of Texas. You can explore the history of Texas and then, since the Alamo is smack dab in the middle of downtown San Antonio, you can stroll the Riverwalk, taking in the sights, sounds and flavors of Texas and Mexico.
- The Texas Hill Country – Don’t expect any mountains, but there’s still plenty to see and do in the Hill Country. You can tube the Guadalupe River or hike to the top of Enchanted Rock. Fredericksburg will give you a taste of the German influence in Texas, as will New Braunfels where you’ll find the original Schlitterbahn water park.
Texas is a wonderful mixture of cultures, with so much to see and do. It’s been romanticized in books, movies and song. And I’m more than happy to continue that tradition via the fictitious town of Bliss, Texas. Welcome to Bliss.
Have you been to Texas? What place(s) do you suggest visiting?

Sounds like a good book.
Thank you for being part of the book tour for ” A Father’s Promise” by Mindy Obenhaus.
Enjoyed reading the guest post. I think I’ve been just about every where in Texas. Lived in Texarkana (on the Arkansas side) after my Dad retired from the military. Enjoyed going to the southern part of the state close to the coastline. Visited the Alamo while visiting relatives close by. The Texas Hill Country is pretty, but still partial to the mountains in Arkansas. 🙂
Can’t wait for the opportunity to read this great sounding book, which I know it will be by the author.
Such an adorable cover <3
